| Who we are | |
| The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a non-profit, educational service organization, founded in 1949-1950, of women and men graduate engineers and those with equivalent engineering experience, dedicated to the advancement of women in the engineering profession. | |
| The Society of Women Engineers is divided into ten regions, Region A through Region J. Region A (also known as the Golden West Region) includes Northern California, Northern Nevada, Hawaii, Guam and Saipan. Within Region A are six Sections. We are the Golden Gate Section of the Golden West Region (Region A). |

| The Society of Women Engineers Golden Gate Section (SWE-GGS),
includes members from the East Bay, San Francisco, Upper Peninsula and North
Bay areas. Our members reflect a diverse range of engineering and technical
disciplines. The SWE Golden Gate section also interacts with student SWE
sections at San Francisco State University and U.C. Berkeley. Students from
Santa Rosa Community College are represented as a special interest group
within our section.
