General Info
Designing Women is a one day event inspired to educated middle school girls about engineering. The girls will participate in various hands on activities that will vary from aerospace, biomedical, electrical, chemical, computer, mechanical, or environmental engineering. The day will also include a roundtable activity where girls will be able to discuss what engineers do with real engineers!
Who: Middle School Girls (grades 6-8)
Where: Stanford University Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (See directions)
When: Saturday April 21st 2012
Time: 8:30 AM – 5:00PM (Registration begins at 8:30 am)
Cost: $10
Included: Light breakfast, Lunch
The day will include
- 5 hands-on engineering related activities that may include paper rocket launching, water filtration systems, and building/structure design
- Roundtable discussion
- Light Breakfast at Registration and Lunch

Permission Slip
Please download and print the following permission slip and bring to the event the day of. Participants will not be allowed to attend if they do not bring this form.

FAQ
My daughter/participant is in elementary school and I would like to know how she can attend?
This event is specified for middle school girls only. Unfortunately at this time we do not have any events that accommodates girls at an elementary school level.
I would like to attend the event with my participant, how may I do so?
This event is meant for girls participation only. If you’d still like to participate consider volunteering. Contact alya.elhawary@swe.org for more info on how to volunteer.
The registration is full, can I still bring my daughter/participant the day of if there is room?
Unfortunately we do accept walk-ins for the event. If registration is full you will put on a wait list and contacted when there is an opening based on a first-come first -serve basis. We will allow cancellations up to the day of so if your daughter/participant is on a wait list please be sure to check your email frequently as you will have a limited time to register once a ticket has been released.
