WOW! is this Saturday! Here are some finals details for you to prepare for the day:
- Please bring the permission slip the day of the event.
- The student drop off/pick up location is on 7th St. and E. San Fernando St., San Jose, CA (Google Maps Link) We will have signs directing you to Auditorium 189 where we will have registration and breakfast
- For Volunteers, you can park at the 10th St. Garage located across the street from the College of Engineering (Google maps link) You will need to purchase a 1-day pass from the kiosk inside the structure. It’s $5 and good for the entire day with in and out privileges.
General Info
WOW! That’s Engineering! is a one-day workshop for high school girls to learn about engineering. Girls will be able to meet real engineers in all stages of their career and learn that engineering isn’t just for the boys!
Who: High school girls
Where: San Jose State University, College of Engineering
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Cost: $10
Included: Breakfast and lunch
The day will consist of:
- Tour of San Jose State University’s College of Engineering. We will visit professors in their labs and see real engineering at work
- Interactive engineering activities to stimulate creativity and use the same skills needed in engineering
- Mingle sessions with real women engineers and current engineering students
- Light breakfast and yummy lunch

Directions
Drop off location for students is at the College of Engineering (7th St. & E. San Fernando St., San Jose, CA 95112) We will have SWE escorts and signs!

From Highway 101 in either direction:
Highway 101 to the Highway 280 north interchange Highway 280 to Eleventh Street exit north, make a right turn; left at San Fernando Street; the Engineering building will be on your left
From Highway 280 going North (towards San Francisco):
Highway 280 to Eleventh Street exit north, make a right turn; left at San Fernando Street; the Engineering building will be on your left
From Highway 280 going South (towards Sacramento):
Highway 280 to 10th Street exit; Left on 11th Street; Left on San Fernando St; the Engineering building will be on your left
From Highway 680:
Highway 680 south to Highway 280 north; Highway 280 to Eleventh Street exit north, make a right turn; left at San Fernando Street; the Engineering building will be on your left

I have a middle school daughter. Can she participate?
This event is for high school girls only. There is a middle school version of WOW called Designing Women that will take place in April. For more info, click here.
I am a parent and would like to participate. Is that possible?
Unfortunately, we do not have the room to accomodate parent participants. Parents are welcome to join as volunteers during the day. Please email us at swescvwow@hotmail.com if interested.
